Tagged...and the answer to one of life's biggest questions

I've been tagged by jen...although it was a few days ago I figure better late than never right? Here are the rules:

  1. Link to the person who tagged you.
  2. Post the rules.
  3. Share six non-important habits/quirks about yourself.
  4. Tag three other people.
  5. Make sure the people you tagged know you did by commenting on what you did.
Okay here it goes..although I'm not a very interesting person I'll try to come up with some random things.

1. We live in Michigan, yet got our dog from a breeder in Texas. We knew we wanted a bolognese puppy and the breeder here in MI wasn't breeding at the time we wanted one due to her husband's death. We contacted her other recommendation in Texas, checked out references, and bought our 4lb puppy a plane ticket. The stewardess carried her out to us on New Year's Day and it's been love ever since. I guess the stewardess played with her the whole trip here to Metro. We opened her little cage and she instantly licked my hand...as I said...love at first sight!

2. My brother and sister are both adopted. My parents tried for years to have kids, couldn't and so adopted. At 40 they had me as a surprise and oopps! But personally I'm glad that we have such a unique family...it's pretty cool.

3. My husband and I are both nerds...therefore any children that we have will also likely be nerds. My husband is an engineer and carries a pen in his pocket at all times. I enjoy reading random research articles related to anesthesia or anything respiratory related...NERDS...but we are two nerds in love.

4. When I first became a nurse I would check out people's veins while in line at the grocery store or at Ko.hls or anywhere and pick out who would be easy to start an IV on. Now that I'm a CRNA I look at people's airways in line at store and decide who would be easy to intubate.

5. I think the best thing I ever bought..other than shoes of course... was a high count down pillow from Scandinavia.n Down. I could fall asleep at a moments notice on that thing...day or night. When I'm not looking...my dog curls up on it and tries to claim it as her's.

6. Prior to being diagnosed with a unicornuate uterus, I had never heard of one. I didn't know what one was...and to this day I wish I still didn't. I used to enjoy bananas, but now that doctors refer to my uterus as a "banana" I can't quite look at them with the same fondness.

I now tag Pauline and Mel and Kaaron.

So as most people who struggle with trying to get pregnant for the first time do...I often ask myself.."Despite going through all treatments known to man...why is it taking me so long to get pregnant?" I now have my answer...secretly my body must had been waiting for this store to come out with a baby furniture line. The answer is now so clear. Since I absolutely love their normal line of furniture and bath things...it is only natural that my body wouldn't accept having a child until I could buy some baby things from here as well. I'm so silly...after all this time I should have known. I could had saved myself thousands of dollars. Silly me!

I adore that you check people in stores for easy intubation. I keep medical gloves in my car in case I ever have to assist after a car accident.

you actually check people out in the store?! ever had anyone think you were CHECKING them out for real instead of checking for their veins and stuff? :) your family sounds really interesting

I used to check out everyones veins when I was a phlebotomist. I also looked at buying a cat from Texas. There aren't very many breeders anywhere for Cornish Rex cats.

Well I think you are one of the coolest nerds that I've ever met. I'll show you my veins anytime because I've been told that I have "great veins".....blood draws are a piece of cake on my arms!! ha ha. I also think it's sort of cool that your mom struggled to have children, and then adopted, and then voila you came along. She certainly understands what you are going through!
