My husband surprised me as always with the camera and caught me as I was just waking up, hence the crazy hair. I swear I just had bed head hair, and I don't go out in public looking like I have mall bangs, LOL! Truthfully, I don't even have bangs - it was just crazy positioning on some layers :-)
Somehow amazingly week 23 is flying by. After a bit too eventful of a weekend, I'm delighted to say that I honestly don't know where the week has gone to - and that is a great thing these days! Monday I slept most of the day, I think I was catching up from the weekend. Plus the cat was out of the bag at work that I had been at the hospital over the weekend and a bunch of the CRNAs I work with called to check in. Phone calls make the day fly. Tuesday my mom came over, brought a whole bunch of food for us, did some laundry, and rough housed with my dog a bit (who has been looking at me lately like "Get up - let's play!") in the morning. In the afternoon my friend Pauline came over and kept me company with her cute 14 month old daughter. She brought me a bag of goodies for myself and the baby and it was a bit like Christmas in August. Today our cleaning lady came and made our house look like a home again and gave it the TLC it so desperately needed. My dog followed her room to room as she worked taking her toys. Luckily our cleaning lady has a little dog herself and is a dog lover. She always takes an extra moment or two to give Neela a little belly rub, or to toss her one of her favorite things to fetch. Today she was over almost an extra hour because she kept stopping to ask me questions about the upcoming baby, and how everything was going. I can't say I minded the company - no matter what form it comes in these days.
This afternoon I had another appointment at my OB's office which was uneventful - just a quick in and out since I saw him a few days ago at the hospital. I got my progesterone shot, weigh in, BP check, and the normal goodies. In just 5 days on Monday I'll have another cervical length check, a 24 week growth scan, and get my steriod shots started. For some reason that day is one I've been looking forward to as a bit of a milestone day for us, and I'm eagerly awaiting it.
While watching TV today I saw that presidential candidate McCain's wife had to be taken to one of hospitals near our home. She had injured her wrist from shaking a hand of a supporter a bit too vigorously. Now that's an accident that sounds both kind of funny and bizarre all at the same time! I got a call from my friend I went to school with who is a nurse there, and she said the hospital was a zoo with all of the news people and security people swarming around. The hospital and our house are both in the middle of an event this weekend that draws a crazy amount of traffic anyways - so the added flow of people has been adding to the congestion and craziness in the area. My husband said it took him extra long to get home from work tonight already, and the even doesn't technically start until Saturday. It's called the Woodward Dream Cruise and is a kind of classic car show where people come from all over with renovated old fashioned cars and drive up and down a road that runs between downtown and north about 10 miles. Each city along the way has events, food, and areas blocked off that you can park your old car with entertainment for the people that walk around to view it. It draws over 1 million people to the event. Usually we browse around part of it with both of our families and have a BBQ at our house. This year I think we'll have to skip and watch the highlights on TV :-)
Susan from ova achiever pointed me towards a really cool concept of designer or stylish hospital gowns at this site. Now if I had to wear a hospital gown for days on end, I wouldn't complain as much if it were stylish. I loved the link she sent, and maybe we should all drop it in the suggestion box outside the various L & D departments at the hospitals. Ha, if only those L & D departments actually had suggestions boxes that would be a good start.
Thank you so much for your kind words, good thoughts, and positive vibes for little Spot and I going forward after our little weekend bump. I honestly appreciate it so much, it's nice to know we're not in this alone sometimes. Well, I'm off to finish watching the rest of the Olympics for the night. Is it just me, or did anyone else notice that the men's beach volleyball team for Argentina is very attractive? I still rooted for the US team to beat them, but it sure was nice to watch the match from all angles if you know what I mean, hehe! Go USA!

OMG -- mall bangs. Too funny!!! Poor Spot -- mommy is already trying to embarass her.......LOL.. sam
That is such an adorable picture! Awww!
I didn't even notice your hair until you said something about it, silly girl. You (and pup) look adorable. Natch.
Glad that you're getting lots of calls and visitors. I agree that phone calls help make the time fly by. I just love hearing about what's going on with everybody else...call me and tell me amusing stories, I say! :)
The Olympics are keeping me occupied, too. I haven't watched much of the men's team, but how about the women's team??? They rock! And swimming, too, has been really fun this year, thanks to not just Michael Phelps, but the whole team.
GO 24 weeks!!!!!
I love those hospital gowns, but I don't think I would want to pay that much for one. I was thinking about asking other members of my meetup group if they wanted to go in on one and share it when we deliver. Then again, I think I will be "nekkid" most of the time. I hate wearing clothes.
I LOVE the picture of you and your puppy. She really steals all the thunder! Sorry! She is so cute -- your faithful companion.
The mall bang pic is very cute. Your pup looks just as surprised as you are.
And so glad that week 23 is passing un-eventfully. That's exactly what we want ;)
I only wish I looked that good when I first wake!! Those gowns are so cute! Of course, I'd be too scared to wear my ninety dollar hospital gown during or after delivery...those things get pretty nasty.
you dirty old woman you (lol)!
glad to hear your doing so much better. the pic of you and neela is too adorable, who cares about your crazy hair (heh). looks like you got a little humpy doe on the top of your head. oh forget that, i may be the only one that says humpy doe.
anywho, you look great - keep up the good work!
Naughty! Naughty... but i sorta agree with you, the olympics is one sports fest with plently of oogle potential... second only to the soccer world cup (think 32 teams with varying levels of david beckham material and you get my drift). I'm so happy with each week that goes by successfully
Ha ha "mall bangs" Is it sad that I knew exactly what you were talking about? I think it is adorable how Neela is in every picture with you. Glad to hear you are doing well, keep doing what you are doing!
you look so good!!!!!! rested and peaceful. Just so awesome that week 24 is almost here... I am very happy for you
Neela looks so happy and content laying on your shoulder! She is soooo cute, and so are you! Wow if you think that is bedhead, you should see mine in the morning! haha.
So I wonder if the guy who squeezed Cindy McCain's hand too hard knows he did it? I bet Beaumont was just buzzing! haha.
Okay I'm glad to know I'm not the only one lusting over the male athletes, and yes those Argentines were totally hot!
Oh yeah and I'm also so thrilled that 24 weeks is almost here! That is fantastic!
Oh, I love your darling little puppy and how she is always sitting on you. Mine is sitting behind me on my chair right now, like a cushion, but only because Matt is gone.
I'm really looking forward to Week 24 for you too! It is a big milestone.
Ah! Mall bangs. Now that brings back some memories. I had the tallest mall bangs EVER!
Glad to hear you're doing well and the week is going by quickly.
You look absolutely radiant, Sara. Mall bangs, LOL. Your dog snuggling you just brings the biggest smile to my face. Best Wishes on your 24 week milestones including steroid injections (totally get what you're talking about btw). So funny about the Olympic athletes, those Argentinian men, whew, Sizzling Hot! I know my DH enjoys women's volleyball and it isn't because of the spikes, maybe the five inches of fabric they call a uniform?
Glad to hear all is well and sending my best for great news next week. Please let me know some dates for your online shower for sometime next month or so? Thanks so much, need to get organized and don't want to conflict w/IRL shower, tee hee.
So, here's a couple jokes from the boys:
Street Sign "Watch for Children", Hmm Sounds like a Fair trade.
3 men walk into a bar, the 4th one ducks.
((Hugs))
That picture of you is adorable!! I love your little pup resting on you too. Super cute.
Glad to hear things are going better this week -- and that the Olympics are doing a great job distracting you. If you have cable, you must be able to watch a lot of different events. How fun!!
Here's to a happy, healthy 24 wk!!
**BIG HUGS**
I must now go cruise through my DVR looking for men's beach volleyball!!
24 weeks is a huge deal! Hooray for viability and steroids!
(Apparently I really like exclamation points today.)
Can't wait to see Week 23 in my rearview for you!
I wish I looked half as good as you do when you wake up. My hair isn't so nice to me in the morning. LOL!
Woo hoo for a boring week!! I ordered my gown from shopbyob.com.
Cute pic! How are you coming on buying more baby stuff? You better get going girl-you don't want a naked baby! (Well at least to go out!)
Pretty Girl!! Congrats on 23 weeks and more to come. I am glad it was just a quick visit to hte OB's office.
McCain's wife hurt her wrist shaking hands ... what a delicate lil wrist she must have - Or someone was too rough with her .. that is a bizzare lil Incident. Wonder if that is considered Workmen's Comp ;)
Darn, I missed hot guys playing volleyball on the beach?? Glad to hear that you are doing ok and that the week has went by quickly. Hope things continue to move along and that next weeks appointment goes well.
Hey woman. I never met an ugly Argentinian, that is for sure!
Glad this week has gone a bit better for you.
You and Neela look so cute cuddled up on the couch :) I'm glad that you're doing good! The Olympics have been keeping me company as well, but I've fallen asleep before every gymnastic event. Darn east cost time ;) On the plus side I've seen a ton of volleyball!
Cute picture. Your little dog has such a big personality.
I'm so glad week 23 is going so much better and hope Spot continues to relax and stay put for many more weeks to come. (:
I think you look great. I looked like a puffy oedematous bloated spotty thing on my bedrest, so mall bangs notwithstanding you look lovely,
xx
J
I love a good uneventful post! Those gowns! Ok, they are still a bit odd looking if you ask me, but I caught a bit of teh Tori and Dean show on Oxygyn, and I was wondering why she got to wear a black and white caftan while eveyone on baby story is wearing those drab ones!
Glad you're still doing well. You look adorable in that pic, so I don't know what you're talking about. :-)
I'm glad lots of people are coming by to keep you occupied.
Your picture was giving me flash-backs of 3rd grade picture day...mall bangs...eeeeek! :) But seriously, you guys are beyond adorable.
And may I just say...Whooohooo! for 24 weeks!
Have a restful (uneventful) weekend. *hugs*
I love the Olympics this year! Not only did I notice the volleyball player, but also that adorable Michael Phelps! ;)
24 weeks on Monday? That is huge! Glad you are getting visits from friends - that's the only thing that keeps bedrest semi-tolerable. Hang in there!
I've been watching the Olympics, but missed the Argentinian volleyball team. Darn. I'll be looking for footage.
I love the picture! Your little dog is soooo sweet! Glad she is watching over you and being a good little nurse!
Sounds like you're doing great- on to week 24- yea!
Thanks for stopping by my blog too!
Awww... look at that sweetie sleeping on you!!! You must have this picture framed up! It's just so sweet!!
I say GO USA, especially for today's 4x100 relay too, cuz I have the hots for Michael Phelps!!
You are so adorable, even when laying on the couch all day long!
Just got back from Vaca, thought I would check in on you...sounds like you and Spot are hanging in there. :)
I already had that link saved on my computer for when I get pregnant! I'm definitely doing the designer gown, it's too cute not to. I first saw them on Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood. LOL Yes, I watch reality tv...it's a secret obsession.
Love ya, girl!
That is so cute, with the dog laying on you like that! :)
