17 week belly picture and another yummy lunch

Here's a belly picture of me at 17 weeks, I'm glad that I finally seem to be making some progression :-)

For you brave souls here is another one to show off little Spot hiding in my belly!

Today my friend from college brought over lunch from Nood.les and Company. It was the first time trying this restaurant and I had this Bangkok stirfry dish that was so yummy. I'll definitely be sending my husband for takeout again soon! Visiting with my friend over steaming hot soba noodles was just what the doctor ordered. She brought me a light hearted pregnancy book about get this...a comical approach to bedrest! I'm anxious to read it cover to cover and have a good laugh.

Things are still quiet here on the homefront, thank heavens. I am ever so grateful for those kind of days. Tomorrow should hopefully be an uneventful one, and then Wednesday our cleaning lady will be here in the morning. This is something that is truly priceless when you're not able to do even the simplest of household stuff. I swear, I never thought I'd see the day where I actually yearn for some one on one time with my vacuum cleaner. I miss the dear old dust sucker :-) (No I don't mean my husband, hehe!)

Although things have been quiet for the last few days, I feel like I've already learned a lot from my short stay on bedrest row.

1. Despite having all the time in the world to sleep, bedrest causes this weird type of insomnia. I either can't fall asleep at night and am up until 4AM, or if I am lucky enough to fall asleep at a decent time, I wake up at 4AM and can't fall back asleep.

2, Since I am up often at 3 or 4 AM I have discovered that VH1 plays the newest song by New Kid.s on the Block once an hour every hour from 3AM until 10AM. It was alright to hear it at first, but now I have the video memorized. If you tell anyone I will hunt you down.

3. Grilled cheese with tomato is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and is very easy to make when you don't feel like cooking. It is my new comfort food.

4.You can watch the entire first three seasons of Showtime series We.eds on Netflix. I did just this in less than a two week time period and now I have the intro song about ticky tacky little houses stuck in my head. My husband also sings it randomly because he has heard it 3o times already. (By the way - there is a new episode on tonight!)

5. I miss the bleep bleep bleep noise of the anesthesia machine from work. During a long OR case, you got so used to the noise it almost put you in a peaceful trance. Don't ask me why - but I miss that sound!

6. Since my cerclage, my lady parts down below have never quite been the same. I know that with pregnancy the whole area becomes "puffy." But I think mine have taken this to new heights - I'm not sure if it's due to the surgery or what. It looks like I've had the same collagen injections as Angel.ina Jolie's lips, but instead injected in my area "down there," if you know what I mean! (My friend pauline actually came up with that description when I mentioned the puffy nature of the lady bits to her the other day.)

Thanks everyone for the food suggestions. Cibele, no I've never had Brazilian food - gosh that sounds good to try though! I hope everyone is having a great start to their week, and thanks again for sharing the bumpy ride with me lately. Fourth of July is almost here, and hopefully it means a short work week for everyone and a long lazy weekend!

I love Weeds! I'll be checking out that episode tonight as well. ;)

PS - I'm having some "swelling" too. No fun.

Look at how fantastic you look!!! Glad you had fun with your friend and a good lunch. Hope that swelling isn't too uncomfortable.

i'm up at 3 and 4 am. it's most annoying. usually it's because i'm starving and i have to eat. there's no going back to sleep until i do. i sure hope you've got good reading material. best wishes.

You look great! I hope you're able to get into a more normal sleep schedule, but I understand the best rest = bad sleep routine. Congrats on 17 weeks. :)

You're darling! But I gotta tell you, I wish my unpregnant self had your kind of "belly!" ;)

I know I tell you this every single time but I wish I looked like you, pregnant at 17 weeks, when I wasn't pregnant. Wait till you see my belly pic! Glad to hear all is quiet and well. I haven't really checked the lady parts for swelling but now I might just have to take a peek!

sorry to hear about the swelling! that doesn't sound fun at all. on a great note - you look absolutely beautiful!! and your bump is super endearing.

i'd second the brazilian food. it's super tasty. we had it for our rehearsal dinner. :o)

I THINK I SEE HIM - I THINK I SEE HIM!! (heh)

I lurve Weeds and wish I had Showtime so I could watch the new stuff. But no, I am stuck having to watch the DVD's when they come out. Day late, dollar short. Story of my freaking life...

Your belly looks amazing! And the noodles sound yummy. You are such a champ for taking on this bedrest so gracefully and with such humor. Funny what you miss, huh? I have seen the NKOTB video and can't help but wondering who that appeals to most...the little girls who used to wear underwear on their heads at the concerts who are all grown up now?

What a tiny little belly! Compared with the first shot you posted though, I can certainly see a little progress has been made!

You definitely should try the Brazilian food. Y-U-M!

Um, Are you sure your knocked up? You are so tiny!!!! I bet you are just going to explode one day! You look great - not even like you have spent one day on the couch!

As for the insomnia - I think it is a combo bedrest + pregnancy thing. I also wake up nearly every night at 4 am and can't go back to sleep. It starts by having to use the can, but by the time I get back to bed I am wide awake...

Weeds rocks. And so does that song...

You're so tiny!!!! I would never believe you were pregnant AND sitting on the couch all day.

The swelling sounds awful, but I bet you'll take it any day knowing that your baby is healthy and safe!!
*hugs*

OK, I'm off of commenting hiatus and just wanted to catch up. First of all, I can't believe all that you have been through these past weeks and I'm glad to see things are quiet....at this point, quiet is good! Secondly, that food sounds amazing!! Oh, and bless your heart being on bedrest...it definitely takes a strong soul to do it!

You look Mah-VELOUS, cute baby bump! Lunch sounds delicious, hmmm, maybe I can send you some dessert for your next lunch with a friend? You'll have to give me some ideas. I'm so glad things are quiet and that your home will be clean again, ah, makes one feel better doesn't it? Sorry to hear about the insomnia and your Lady lips doing their best Angelina Jolie imitation. You and your friend are so Funny! I know what you mean about the soothing noises of the anesthesia machine, the whoosh, hum, and beep, it gives a rhythm to your day in the OR. I've never seen Weeds even though it was filmed about two miles from my house up until this season.(My house isn't too ticky - tacky though) Here's a big (((HUG))) and here's one very old OR joke:

How do you hide money from a surgeon?

"Put it in a book"

You probably know this joke, it's required for any CRNA, PACU, or OR staff.

You look terrific!

I cannot imagine having to stare at my house and not be allowed to clean it. I think I might die.

That lunch sounds terrific. I wonder if we have one of those restaurants near us.

You may be the smallest pregnant lady I've ever seen. Like a lot of the girls, I wish I was your size now (with no pregnancy)!

The New Kids comment was so funny. I haven't seen their new video yet, but will chceck it out.

I second the motion on the insomnia with bedrest. It's because we're so damn well rested! I fall asleep OK at night, but wake up super early. It really sucks.

Hope you are hanging in there!

Ok, I am WAY jealous of your belly. I am already bulging at the seams, and you've got 2 weeks on me! Heh. You look fab, chica! Also, I'm having the swelling too - you should read Jenny McCarthy's "Belly Laughs" - she calls them "blue twinkies"! Heh. Hope all is well.

You are just too damn cute!!

I'm sorry about the insomnia and promise that your NKOTB secret is safe with me. LOL.

You look GREAT! You will probably keep that great figure with the little belly of joy until the day spot gets here. Lucky dog you! (my arms are out-growing my shirts). Also, the good thing about bedrest is you can stay up all night because you don't have to wake up at a certain time! My internal clock was all messed up the 7 weeks I was on bedrest.

BTW, I learned the hard way that you have to wear undies when the south pole is all puffy like that! When I was recovering from OHSS, when the fluid started to go back into my cells, it also went south and I didn't wear undies for comfort sake. OUCH!

You are adorable. It's fun when you finally start to show. I don't think anyone could tell I was preg until about 20 weeks.

Grilled cheese and tomatoes...YUM!

You look great! One day soon that belly is just going to pop out and you'll be cuter than ever. Sorry about the swelling, that can't be any fun. Keep those pictures comin'!

I'll have to check out Weeds. I see the previews for upcoming episodes all the time but have never watched it.

You look so good, and Spot is starting to round you out!

Thanks for your comment on my blog.

I love miracle stories like these! You look great!!!!

Aah, i love NKOTB too. And I hate insomnia. I have insomnia too.

Ok, a belly? I wish I looked like that when I'm not pregnant! LOL! I can see a tiny, tiny little bump.

Well, I can totally relate to Angelina Jolie's lips as well, you are not alone!

Jill said...

Girl, you are still so tiny...you're adorable!

Sorry about the swelling of 'the lady parts'...that's no fun at all.

I'm with ya on the grilled cheese and tomato soup...that's all I want when I'm laid up...yum!

*MUCH LOVE*

I just can't get over Donnie being the main guy in the NKOTB video. With his shirt all open and everything. Weren't Jordan and Joey the stars? When did Donnie become the big guy in the group? Things to ponder during your insomniac periods...

By the way, I don't remember if I've recommended this book to you (another problem with bed rest...forgetfulness) but if I haven't it's a good read for us bedresters with cervix that suck. "To Full Term" by Darci Klein. Really good and quick read.

CJ said...

Okay, so you are barely showing also. I thought I was the only one and I have 2! But your 17 weeks and you don't have no belly!!

Cibele said...

You are so cute! I can't wait to see your belly growing bigger and bigger. I wish i could send you some Brazilian food my dear... I hope things keep quiet for a long time.
I am usually awake at 3 am feeding Lyla, we can talk someday via MSN! LOL.
Take care
