(I'm not sure why the stripes on my husband's shirt look swirly in the picture, they were actually stripes and not some crazy pattern like they look, LOL!)
Well, our date ended up being eating dinner with some friends, one of whom was turning 30 and having a birthday get together. So at night, I got dressed and ventured downtown with my husband to meet them all at the restaurant. Funny thing when you haven't left the house for days is that you almost start to feel weird when you are among people on the outside of the four walls of you house. I can only image it's kind of the feeling criminals have when they are released from jail. You're outside, and you feel like, "Is this really okay, am I really allowed to be out here?" When the direct sunlight hits you it feels like a blaring spotlight has been shone on you at first, as if you've been caught center stage with your pants down. Almost eerie? I know that sounds bizarre. But luckily after a few minutes, that crazy feeling goes away and you feel more like a kid on Christmas morning, instead of a criminal making a break for it.
Needless to say, the dinner was wonderful. Getting a chance to be out and see some of our friends was great, the weather was beautiful, and the view from the restaurant that was directly on the water downtown was nice. The restaurant was on one of the upper floors in one of the newer loft/ condo complexes downtown so you could see the riverfront and the Canadian border. I left feeling relaxed - and full. It would be a fun place to hit up again sometime I'm sure. My husband said that they make a strong drink because - since I could drive home - he downed a couple of girly froo froo drinks and was surprised to be feeling, "a little happy" off of them! Ah, nothing like a 6'3'' guy sipping girly drinks, I should have snapped a picture :-)
We didn't stay too long, and returned home where I've since spent the rest of the weekend on the couch. Even with the short journey out, I did feel some cramping later that evening. But my dear old doc said that's probably going to be how things will be. Hopefully the p17 shots help keep my uterus a little more quiet, and as long as the cramping is not actual contractions we'll just keep monitoring things. Of course, I'll keep taking it easy, and cherish any short "date nights" I venture out on for now. I have a feeling that even those short trips are numbered and will be few and far between.
My next appointment is Wednesday, and I'm already wishing it would just come quickly. Thank you so much for the sweet well wishes for my little dog! She is doing better already and my husband will take her back to the vet Thursday. I've been gladly sharing my pillow with her - doggie on the right, my head on the left. You can tell her little rear is still sore and she has some pain when moving around, but all in all everyday she gets better and acts more like her old self. She actually tried to steal my cereal this morning and I almost cried! Instead I gave her a big old hug because that's one of her favorite things to do and she hasn't tried it in days. She's a smart one who knows that Cherrios may help lower her cholesterol, what can I say - she wants in on the goods :-)
I hope everyone is having a great weekend and I'm trying to get caught up on everyone's blogs. If you have a second go give KC a hug, she's a sweetie faced with some tough decisions. I've spent the rest of the weekend so far rotting my brain on the last season of America's Ne.xt Top Mo.del, and watching Buck.et List and Semi-Pro with Will Ferr.ell. I did actually start another book Middlesex which is good so far, thanks Elizabeth (my fellow UU girl) for the suggestion. My Polish mojo must be in full swing because I'm thinking of making some pierogi for dinner tonight - haven't done that in a long time. Shhh don't tell anyone, but tomorrow will be 16 weeks....shhhh inside voices, inside voices. But I did want to say honestly thanks again for your support and all the kind words, you guys are the best! They mean more than you will ever know.

16 weeks, Yeah! I'm so glad you got to have a date night, you both look wonderful. That's great your sweet puppy is on the mend, back to stealing your cereal. I think of you and Lil'Spot all the time (daddy too) and send my best. Thanks so much for your nice comments on my blog.
WOW YAH!!! 16 weeks. Go Spot...
I bet getting out of the house does feel alittle foreign. I have been home now for 10 days and I am dying to get out and explore again. I am unsure when it's "safe" to introduce baby to Targ.et, Bo.rder's, etc. Any thoughts from the medical community?
I am glad your pooch in on the mend.
You look great! I'm so glad you were able to get out for a bit and see some friends too. Hopefully that will help the stir crazy feeling for a little while. (:
Congrats on 16 weeks and great news about your sweet furbaby.
You two are so cute. You look great--no one would know you're a stressed mommy on bed rest. Yay for the progesterone shots! I was so happy to do a shot every night because it felt like I was actually doing something to help my baby along.
{very quietly, happy 4 months...}
Glad you had a chance to get out! You definitely deserved it after being cooped up for so long. Congrats on 16 weeks!
you 2 look so adorable! I am glad that you're feeling better. Keep resting okay?
Glad you are doing well and even got to escape the confines of your house! Bummer about the progesterone shots, I've heard they aren't so much fun. (When ARE shots fun, though, really?) But when it's for the good of the baby, it's all worth it.
I am from the 'burbs of Detroit, and your post about eating on the water made me a bit homesick. My heart will always be in the Motor City. :)
Firstly- 16 weeks :)
Secondly- congrats on getting out of the house for something other than a Dr's appt! I'm turning a light shade of green over here..but not TOO green because I can barely walk these days anyway.
Thirdly- I've forgotten already, sadly. But congrats again on getting a date night,
J
ANTM was good this season, but for some reason I didn't think they were as pretty as the girls in the other cycles.
I'm so glad that you got some well-deserved moments of freedom. You and your husband are such an adorable couple. Frank also drinks frou-frou drinks - even beer makes him cringe. Pass him anything fruity or crayon-colored and he's a happy man. I can't wait to hear about your appointment on Wednesday! I'm going to send out distress signals if I don't hear from you at least every three days! :)
It has been a while since we have heard from you...you got a girl worried!
I'm glad you are feeling better and were able to get out and socialize for a little while.
Just a couple more days until your appointment...yay!
I've just told Matt that I demand a date too! He's going to take me to lunch this week. See, you are contagious.
Thanks for the tag girl. Glad you had some time out of the house. Do you read "uneducational" regency romantic fiction? If you do & get too bored, I can send you my stash. Take it easy ok?!
Congrats on having "date night". I have to say being confined is NOT the most fun thing to do... mine came post-surgery when I wasn't allowed to SIT (let alone drive)... not so convenient when you have a little guy who wants to snuggle with his momma.
What restaurant is that? What a beautiful view. Glad you were able to get out briefly and are now safely back on the couch.
congrats on 16 weeks ;)
i am so glad to hear you are still hanging in there... and that your puppy is ok!!!!
*hugs*
Yay for 16 weeks. So glad you had a nice time on your date night. I bet the sight of your hubby drinking froo froo drinks was pretty funny. Hope you do get to do a few more date nights in the next few weeks.
Thank you so much for your visit and for the kind comments you left on my blog!
I’m doing my best to play catch-up on all the wonderful information you’ve included here, and I can’t tell you how reassuring it is to know that there are people who’ve successfully traveled this road. Your positive attitude and observations are a breath of fresh air! I often need to be reminded to find my optimism…
Yipee for puppy! (Who is absolutely adorable, by the way.)
Glad you were able to do something nice for yourself this weekend…it sounds like you have a super-duper hubby.
Thanks again for your visit…warm fuzzy thoughts and prayers for Wednesday!
Congrats on 16 weeks and date night!! I am so glad that you were allowed to escape your couch prison for the evening. Good luck at this weeks appointment!!
17 weeks, here we come! I think we are both going to kick the second trimesters ass!
xo

Books and rotten TV/movies...you sound like me! Glad you got out a bit, though, and that your pooch is feeling better.
16 weeks is fantastic. You're only 4 away from the midway point. Sending so many good thoughts while you rest.
That's great you got to get out in the world for a bit! Glad your fur baby is doing much better!
I love that picture. Sounds like a nice evening out! And 16 weeks, WOW! Congratulations!
16 weeks...that's practically halfway!!
Glad the dinner went well. Hope the progesterone helps with the contractions!
hooray! I'm so glad you were able to get a little bit of a reprieve from the bed rest.
And go, spot, go!
16 weeks is awesome! I was on the p17 shots, but also had to go on the breathene and nifedipene for contractions. Pay attention to your body and don't feel bad for calling your dr a lot. I called my dr about a zillion times when I was pg. I know they probably hated it, but we made it. Always err in the side of caution, but you already know that... :)
So glad you were able to have a date night!! Sometimes it's the little things like that that help us stay sane. ;)
I loved Middlesex -- great book. If any book can help you keep your mind off things, that's the one. Next, I recommend Lonesome Dove. The book is way better than the miniseries.
