Yesterday's transfer went well. I downed my Valium for the procedure like I was instructed to and boy did it have an effect on me! I was completely tired and out of it. Funny because most people say they feel nothing on 5mg of it, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, haha! I guess I'm a cheap date.
When we got to the office, we went down to the IVF lab portion. We talked briefly with the embryologist who updated us saying that all five embryos were still doing well, and were of good quality. I guess our office grades good, fair, and poor. Some offices use this and others use a number system. The embryologist said that the other three would be frozen because they met the criteria for freezing. My RE then transferred the two best 8 cell embryos in and it was done as quickly as we had started. They had to use a curved catheter because I guess my cervix and path is curved they said, which is common with a unicornuate uterus. During the mock transfer they were able to easily pass a straight flexible catheter, but yesterday my husband said that they used a semi curved then a curved one.
I rested at home the remaining portion of the day, my mom had cooked us some food and brought it over for dinner the day before so I enjoyed her yummy pasta and meat sauce. I swear food tastes better when someone else does the cooking! I do love to cook...but it's nice to have a break. I basically slept the rest of the afternoon, and then watched some movies and evening TV. We watched Aw.ake a movie that was pretty unrealistic but still entertaining because it involved some anesthesia topics - always an interest to a CRNA :-) Then I watched F.east of Love with Morgan Fr.eeman which was good. Next on the list for today is Atonemen.t and A.merican Gangster. I also watched L.ost last night with my husband which was a pretty good episode.
All in all I'm feeling pretty good. My dog won't leave my side and slept on my chest and shoulder last night like a cat (she is only 7 lbs after all). It's like she knows something is in there..they say dogs have an extra sense...maybe it's true. Only problem I'm having is that I've had a pretty decent amount of flow since my transfer almost like a period which I guess is not normal and the office is not thrilled about post transfer. I'm supposed to hear back later today and if it is still in action I get to have an appointment either later today or tomorrow morning and if I get lucky "a stitch" as they said which is highly unusual post transfer.
Anyways, despite all that I can't help but think of the pictures we got to take home of the embryos...the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen!

I'm a little jealous of your Valium. Am so hoping your little ones stick in there! Hope that little bit of flow stops and that you don't need that stitch. Sounds like you got some quality TV time in.
