Saturday was spent shopping at Somerset Mall and picking up some sleepers for Brynn. Then it was off to Bupa de Beppos in Birmingham and Brynn did great. It was my first time there as well. The one shrimp dish was especially yummy!
Sunday morning we slept in and then had the superbowl get together with some old college friends as well. This is my good friend M and I with Brynn. She is my sanity saver that I've talked about in the past. This upcoming weekend is Brynn's baptism and she is her godmother.
Brynn enjoyed the three D half time show with her glasses and her godfather (M's husband and and my husband's best friend). We ordered Pizza Papalis, another Detroit favorite of deep dish pizza and had a great time. My friend Pauline was also there who is also moving soon out of state who I will miss with a fierce vengence.
Last night I watched Lost and thought it was pretty good. I'm looking forward to tonight's Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice lap over too. We also had our first night last night with our night time nanny. My friend's younger sister (not too young she's 26) came over to spend the night with Brynn and help out on her frequent feeding schedule to catch us a little break. The 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep was absolute bliss. I got up once to pump, but that was all. A girl could get used to this! Pumping is still going well. Still able to keep up with her demands but I realize I might have to cave and give her one bottle of formula soon along with her 6 bottles of breastmilk. I'm still happy to be able to give her mostly breastmilk while I'm off of work - but we'll see how it goes after awhile. Brynn is also sleeping better in her bassinett I'm happy to report. After we feed her at night and hold her upright for 45 minutes she usually will resume sleeping by herself. This is something new and a huge improvement over the last 2 weeks! Tomorrow I'm taking her for her 3 month appointment and the finishing of her 2 month vaccine schedule.I do have a question though. Do any of you have any experience with feeding both breastmilk and a bottle of formula or two for a prolonged time? What brand of formula did you start on and did you always feed your formula bottle at the same time of day? I'm hoping to continue pumping and just do a bottle or two of formula for the first year or so while I work, while mostly maintining breastmilk. Did anyone have any good experiences with this or any luck. Any wisdom is appreciated. I mostly pump now anyways now anyhow so I dont mind the lack of actual breastfeeding. I just want to be able to give her as much breastmilk as possible for as long as possible since she has done the best on this due to her malabsorption. If she didn't have the problem with weight gain and malabsorption I wouldn't be such a stickler for it.

Oh my gosh! I can't believe that she is 3 months old already!! Time is flying by! I love the latest pictures of her. She is adorable!
I have twins and pumped for them for 9 mos. At about 5 mos or so I started giving them one formula bottle a day as my supply wasn't keeping up with them. We used Enfamil. The first couple of sucks they noticed the difference but it didn't seem to bother them. Be prepared, diapers will be different! Anyway, as time when on, we went from more and more formula a day until we eliminated all breast milk at 9 mos. it was such a long transition they did'nt seem to notice. I did notice they hated cereal or oatmeal made with formula, i always reserved breastmilk for that. Good luck!
First of all--what a nice time! the pics are great and I LOVE Buca's! We have one nearby--sort of. It's more near my mom's house, but I love it!
About the formula/bm combo--I did it from day one. I tried to do exclusive bm, but was never able to keep up with their daily increasing needs.
Mine were born at 32 weeks so they were put on Enfamil Enfacare which is for preemies, it's a bit richer. But, the doctor said to pump as much as I could and divide it up between the three and then make up the rest of their needs with formula. I could either do bottles of bm alone or mix it with formula, whatever I wanted to do.
I decided to feed BM starting in the morning and switch to formula in the evening so they would sleep longer.
I only lasted like that for 8 weeks though. At that time I just switched to formula. I just hated sitting there pumping with my babies were just laying there.

i have done bm and formula. I tried doing one formula bottle then one bm bottle. I just ending up putting half of each in the bottle.
I know many people that do formula and bm. It does not have to be all or nothing. I did enfamil w lipil because that was what I had the most samples of at the time.
Give brynn a bottle of formula and see how she does. It's really up to you and what she will tolerate. If you notice the formula messing up her stomach try a gentler kind
I had to supplement for Edie and Ella because they never learned to latch and pumping didn't provide enough milk for TWO!!! I tried all sorts of variations from day to day and they all worked...it would just depend on how much milk I had...somedays I would give them half and half in a bottle or a bottle of BM then a bottle of formula for the next feeding...
We used (and still use) Enfamil Lipil...
Just go easy on yourself...and seriously.....H?O?W? is she already 3 months?????????

With my daughter I BF exclusively for the first 3 months. After I went to work, I found that I had no time to pump...and my small supply I had frozen ran out quick. So, formula fed her while I was at work, and when I was home I BF. As for brands, I started with Similac, as she got older, and started eating solids, I started to use the store brand. It was cheaper and I figured she wasn't relying on it for all her nutrition.
We made this work until she was 10 months old.

I love the pictures on this post AND the last post. She is so precious. Her eyes are so big. I fed my daughter breast milk and formula for 3 months and then solely formula. She was lactose intolerant, so we used soy based. We used Enfamil. We were happy with it. She seemed to like it. Good luck with all of it! I hope it goes easier and you also, get more sleep.

I use Similac Advanced, and did so when I was BFing as a supplement, too. I'd ask your pediatrician what they recommend, but that has worked well for Rowan and Evan, even with Evan's reflux.
Great pictures, Brynn is getting so big. I'm glad you are getting some rest. Most moms who supplement with formula give the baby the formula when they want the baby to sleep the longest, usually nighttime. Brynn's pediatrician can let you know what kind is the best for her. Thanks for the update, you look beautiful!!
